Now, the Apex Legends Global Series New Orleans is approaching close. Apex Legends is all set to become one of the top e-sports of 2025. The numbers are also on their side. Apex has had substantial growth and can surpass Fortnite anytime soon to acquire the top position. E-Sport Charts recently released a list of Apex winning over Fortnite, even though they had fewer events compared to Fortnite.
Apex Legends vs. Fortnite: Esports Rankings, Revenue, and Future in 2025
Apex Legends is currently acquiring the sixth position. So far in 2025, they have hosted two events: the ALGS 2024 Championships and the 13YOG x Redragon League grand finals. They were able to score $2 million in revenue and a viewership of 540,000, which was a huge win.
Fortnite, on the other hand, hosted 30 events and still ranks seventh on the chart despite having similar revenue. Their most popular event is the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) 2025 majors, reaching a peak of 480,000 in Europe.
EA is looking to expand the esports scene by inviting more teams globally. The ALGS open will take place between May 1 and May 4, 2025, and the estimated price pool is $1 million.
Who’s Leading the Esports Scene in 2025?
If the current performances were to be taken into account, then Apex Legends are winning, but this is for this year only. In 2024, Fortnite dominated the e-sports scene, and Apex was nowhere close to them. Last year, Fortnite offered a total prize pool of $12.8m and peak viewership of over 800,00 during the FNCS 2024 Global Championship.
Both games will participate in this year’s E-Sports World Cup, which will feature the largest esports organization in the world. Last year, Fortnite was the fan favorite, with an average view count of 25,000 and a peak of close to 73,000. Can Apex Legend match the numbers? We will find out soon.
